Configure a sending domain
Verify email authentication, add sender addresses, test delivery, and diagnose DNS status safely.
Choose the domain
Use a domain or subdomain your organization controls and that recipients will recognize. A dedicated lifecycle subdomain can separate operational reputation while keeping From addresses aligned with your brand.
Verify authentication
- 01
Add the domain
Open Settings → Sending and enter the exact organizational domain or chosen subdomain.
- 02
Publish every displayed DNS record
Copy the DKIM, return-path SPF, and DMARC records into the authoritative DNS provider.
- 03
Wait for DNS propagation
Return to AttuneMail and check verification. Avoid repeatedly deleting and recreating unchanged records.
- 04
Resolve every failed purpose
The domain becomes ready only when the required authentication states succeed.
- 05
Add and test a sender
Create the From address and reply behavior, then send to a controlled inbox before using it in a campaign or journey.
What each record does
| Purpose | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| DKIM | Cryptographically authenticates message content and aligns it to your domain |
| Return-path SPF | Authorizes the delivery path used for bounces and alignment |
| DMARC | Publishes domain policy and helps receivers evaluate alignment |
| Ownership transfer | Safely proves control when a domain is already active in another workspace |
Troubleshoot verification
- ✓Confirm the records are published at the authoritative DNS provider
- ✓Check whether the provider appended the domain twice
- ✓Keep the exact punctuation and trailing values shown
- ✓Avoid creating a second SPF policy for the same hostname
- ✓Allow for DNS propagation and then use Check verification
- ✓If the domain belongs to another workspace, complete the ownership-transfer challenge instead of deleting records blindly
Production readiness
Verification is necessary but not sufficient for healthy delivery. Start with controlled volume, monitor bounces and complaints, maintain clear consent and suppression handling, and increase volume within the readiness limits shown in the product.
